Richard B. Cheney has been a public servant for many years as well as an entrepreneur who has made a name for himself. The current position he holds is Vice President of the United States. Cheney was a familiar name on Washington's political stage. George W. Bush was his 4th U.S. President. Bush chose Cheney to be his vice-presidential candidate in July 2000 citing his knowledge and expertise. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff to a president. He also served as an elected Member of Congress as well as the secretary of defense. Republicans as well as Democrats both respect his integrity. Cheney said he views the role of an honest but discrete adviser in Bush's administration. Cheney expressed his excitement at being nominated for the Republican vice-presidential nomination. He stated that the future is bright for him working alongside a president who will work together with people of different political views and with the same goals. Richard Bruce Cheney, son of Richard Herbert Cheney & Marjorie Lauraine Dickey was born on 30 January 1941 in Lincoln Nebraska. At the age of 13, Richard Bruce moved with his parents to Casper (in Wyoming, the State of Wyoming) where his father was director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's land conservation districts.
