Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12th of November, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, (presently Onesti] Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast in history to receive a score of a perfect of 10 points in the Olympic competition. Comaneci was discovered by Bela Karolyi who was later her Romanian gymnastics instructor when she was just six years old. She competed at the Romanian Junior Championships where she placed 13th. She was awarded the championship in 1970. She won three golds in her first competition, a junior pre-Olympic meet in 1972, which was a the communist bloc nations. The following year, 1973 as well as 1974, she became the junior champion in all-round competitions. In her first international competition as a senior in 1975 she beat the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva the five-time European champion, winning 4 gold medals as well as one silver. She was the winner of the American Cup at the New York City Olympic Games and became the first woman ever to remove the parallel bars using backwards double salto. Carol Marie Wayne was born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol's first job was in entertainment during her teenage year. She began her career with her joining Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling spectacle of entertainment. Ice Capades showcased performances of ice-skating with actors.
