The babies were asleep in their cribs as I was strapped in with one of them to my back. Ha! It was beginning to seem logical, however it was far from finished. It was going to take an enormous amount of effort and shopping my favorite to furnish this home. To keep my budget in good shape, I went out with my 3 boys looking for bargains in estate sales. Every week, we spent between Thursday and Saturday in garage sales and estate sales, buying old and new furniture. Then I stenciled and polished in the driveway during the workweek. The furniture looked like this... and that's the place I discovered my love for restoring. After our home was fully completed, I was unable to give up! There was a market in the area to let me sell my pieces. I was able to outgrow the area because I had plenty of pieces that I needed. I held open houses at my house where 1 000 visitors would pass through on a single weekend. visitors could buy anything from the first level. It was here that my business Growing Days was born. My business was not only thriving but I was growing our family of four. It was a balance between starting a business as well as being a mom. Growing Days fit perfectly. The year 2013 was the year my daughter Nora was our fourth baby. I loved where my business was taking me, but I felt like I needed to take a breather. I decided to quit building my old furniture for a few months and be at home with the kids. The time was right. It rang once more after a while. They were asking for my assistance in decorating and home renovations. It was mostly those that came to my home to purchase furniture. It wasn't long before I had a fully-fledged business for home improvement. The first step was to take clients one by one at a pace that I felt comfortable with. It would have probably laughed at me had I had told you that this was going to be the subject of a DIY Network tv series. It's hilarious to look back to the idea.
