Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's most popular actors. Her fame is for her strong character who are also vulnerable. Her father was a celebrated playwright, but she was raised as an all-only child with a single mother and nurse. Through the summer months when she was with her father, Linney developed a passion for theatre. She eventually studied acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. Her Broadway career shortly after graduating after which she made her television debut the following year. Since then, she's been in numerous films as well as stage and TV productions. She has been nominated for three Academy Awards, five Tony Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her time on the stage. In spite of all these accolades, her love for theater is still there constant, as she continues to perform both onscreen and onstage.
